 Inspirations box

There are many things that inspire my art in day to day life... but I never take the time to note them down and make sense of it all...
so here's a lot of stuff in one post to kind of catch up on lost time!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fashion and style: Jrock, Visual kei, Decora Kei, and all forms of lolita
Visual kei ヴィジュアル系 : refers to a movement among Japanese musicians, characterized by the use of eccentric aesthetics involving thick make up and colourful costumes.
Above is the Jrock/ visual kei band Lycaon

Above is Hizaki and her wonderful "hime" like image

There are MANY different sub genres of Visual kei

Kote kei: (heavy) - kote kei is EXACTLY what image pops into your mind when thinking of visual kei. Kote came about as an opposite to soft kei. Under that there are two types - black kei and white kei. Black kei have dark feelings to the rythym and speedy melodies, white kei aims to be more melodious and transparent.

Oshare kei: (stylish) - Clothing styles based on female fashion and is VERY colourful

Soft Visual kei: Siam Shade, Glay, Sophia, Janne Da Arc

Nagoya kei: (Nagoya is a place): (older:) Kuruyume, Laputa, Rouage, Fanatic Crisis. (Newer:) Deadman, Gullet, Lynch, Deathgaze, Sugar, -Oz- (Originally used to describe bands in Nagoya, now used to describe bands influenced by these bands regardless of where they are).

Misshitsu Kei: (General term used for bands that belonged to the label Misshitus Neurosis, means a room that is secret or cannot be entered): Cali=/=gari, Mucc, Plastic Tree

Chikashitsu kei: (basement): Term comes from a concert in 1997, Tokyo Chikashitsu and includes Denba kei and Angura kei. Includes bands like Mucc, Inugami Circus Dan, Guruguru Eigakan, and Metronome.

Gothic and lolita fashion:
A Japan youth street fashion that encaptures the innocence of youth in a doll like image and is heavily inspired by the French rococco era. Knee length frilled skirts, blouses, bloomers and mary janes and head dresses or bows make up the standard lolita attire. This fashion was clearly popularized by the music scene of the late 80's early 90's and continued to grow in numbers and varieties, although most still deny the fashion has any links to visual kei whatsoever.

There are also MANY styles of lolita:

Gothic lolita: Clothing consists of dark blues, reds or blacks, similar to Victorian and rococco era dress patterns, only with shorter skirts. An example is the brand Moi meme Moitie.

Sweet lolita: Light pastel colors mainly pinks and blues, lots of lace, with very childlike cuts and fabric prints. Brands who make this style are Angelic Pretty *who's designers Maki and Asuka are idols of mine :D*, BTSSB, chocochip cookie amongst many more.

Classic lolita: Shorter versions of clothing that looks like it is from the French and English country side during the 1900s. Less lacey and more mature looking.Brand wise Baby the stars shine bright *BTSSB* do a lot of this style and chocochip cookie.

Punk lolita: It's as the name suggests, a lolita version of punk. Punk lolis wear things like skirts made of tartan and accessorise with safety pinks belts and ripped clothes. brands that make these kinds of clothes are: Putumayo, Sex pot revenge and H naoto.
